Chetek, WI
Chetek is about 45 miles north of our Eau Claire office, and we serve the city and the Chetek chain of lakes on scheduled northern routes.
Chetek is roughly 45 miles north of our Eau Claire office at 3445 London Rd, up US Highway 53. It is the far end of our Wisconsin territory, so Chetek work is grouped onto scheduled northern route days rather than handled as same day calls. Lawn care rounds, irrigation startups and blowouts are all planned that way, and we tell customers up front which week a visit falls in.
The city is built around the Chetek chain of lakes, six connected lakes including Chetek, Pokegama, Prairie, Ten Mile, Moose Ear and Ojaski. That shapes the property mix. A large share of what we service is lakeshore: year round homes and seasonal cabins on sloped lots running down to the water, often with pine and oak cover, well or lake fed irrigation, and limited room for equipment. In town the lots are smaller and flatter, with older homes and mature hardwoods.

Almost everything we deal with in Chetek traces back to water on one side of the property and sand under it.
We also see a lot of irrigation drawing from shallow wells, where pressure drops in August and whole zones underperform.
Chetek soils are sandy, which is typical of northwest Wisconsin outwash country, and they trend acidic. Water moves through fast, water holding capacity is low, and organic matter is usually thin outside of the low spots. Under pine cover the surface gets more acidic still from needle litter.
That means fertility has to be split into smaller, more frequent applications so nitrogen stays in the root zone, and irrigation should run shorter cycles more often rather than one long soak that drains past the roots. Core aeration with overseeding is the main tool for building organic matter and water holding capacity over time. Because pH can sit well below ideal here, we soil test before recommending lime, and near the lakes we keep product placement well back from the shoreline.
We service it. Chetek is about 45 miles north of our Eau Claire office, so it is covered on scheduled northern route days rather than same day. The city and the chain of lakes are both included. Our service area page shows the full territory.
Yes, and that is a large share of what we do in Chetek. Seasonal properties get the same lawn and irrigation rounds, and we handle startup and blowout timing so you are not driving up to meet us. Snow removal can run on a seasonal contract for drives nobody is there to clear.
The same way as everywhere else, off measured turf area and zone count. Lawn care programs start at $449 per year, irrigation maintenance starts at $239 per year, and mosquito and tick control starts at $579 for a six treatment season.
It is, with the right program. Wisconsin limits phosphorus in turf fertilizer, we keep applications back from the shoreline, and on sloped lakeshore lots we use lighter, more frequent rates so nothing is sitting on the surface waiting for the next storm to carry it downhill.
