You know who loves your lawn almost as much as you do?
Your dog.
He rolls around on it. Sticks his nose down and snuffles it. Sometimes he even eats it.
So what happens when your lawn care service shows up to treat your lawn?
Is lawn care safe for dogs?
Set down that slobbery ball for a minute and let’s take a look.
When we spray your yard’s weeds, the product is wet. You don’t want your dog to come in contact with it while wet.
Wait until the product is dry before you let pooch back out into the yard. As the liquid weed control product dries on the plant material, it's absorbed, bonding to the surface. That means it won’t get picked up on pets’ skin or paws.
How long does that take? It depends on the weather, but usually about an hour.
One thing to note: We do spot treatments on weeds, targeting just the weeds. We don’t automatically spray your entire lawn with weed control. Our technicians are trained, skilled, and experienced. They're spraying exactly where they need to, and nowhere else.
Dogs shouldn’t ingest fertilizer, either. But a good watering from your irrigation system or rain forces the fertilizer granules down into the soil.
Our technicians also take care to sweep any stray fertilizer from your driveway or sidewalks back into the lawn before they leave.
Choose a lawn care company that focuses on soil and lawn health, not just treating the surface, and your thriving lawn will ultimately need less treatment. That’s good for Fido, too.
As you consider how to keep your pets safe in your yard, don’t forget about tick control.
Ticks love hanging out in the same areas your furry friend loves to explore, those intriguing, shady damp areas around the perimeter of your yard.
Ticks lurk on the tips of grasses and shrubs, waiting for a host to brush up against their spot. Then, they hop on board and suck your pet’s blood slowly for several days.
You don’t want Fluffy to be miserable from tick bites. And you definitely don’t want her bringing them into your house.
Targeting ticks where they live and breed is your best defense.
RainMaster’s barrier spray reduces ticks on your property all season long, with regular visits every three weeks.
That same treatment reduces mosquitoes, too. Two pests, one price.
(Note that barrier protection isn’t a replacement for treating your pet for fleas and ticks. Follow your veterinarian's recommendation when it comes to using a flea and tick prevention product on your pet.)
